Welcome to English 485a, Teaching Writing!!!
This is our first assignment:
As a comment to this post, write a short (approx. 500 words) introduction about yourself (your student teaching experience, your strengths/weaknesses, your expectations of your K-12 students, your personality as a teacher, your interests/hobbies, your aspirations for your future, something personal (websites, etc.).
I will use these introductions when we start our exchange with a writing class from a local high school, to tell our cooperating teacher a little bit about you. So keep in mind that a K 9-12 teacher will share your introduction with his students ;-)

Hello, my name is Caitlin Waldis and I am a senior at SIUC studying English Education. I have observed in West Frankfort and am observing at Carbondale High School this spring. I am very excited to start my teaching career and plan to teach middle school English either around St. Louis or Chicago. I love reading and hope to teach literature as well as writing.

However, this semester, I will be observing at Zeigler-Royalton. I am a perfectionist with my grammar. I hope to give high school students the same love of punctuation that I possess.

I had a very special teacher that opened up that love for me when I was in high school and it is my hope that I may be able to make the same difference for someone else one day.
